Black Vibe Tulsa LLC is an online platform designed for the black community and created by the black community. The purpose of BVT is to be a resource that provides organized information about locally, black-owned businesses in the Tulsa area as well as local events, deals and anything else black in Tulsa. The goal of BVT is to help develop and market black-owned businesses while also serving as a network and newsletter for the black community. To accomplish our goal, BVT utilizes a multitude of online platforms including social networking services such as Facebook and Instagram as well as email marketing. The mission of Black Vibe Tulsa LLC is to increase the social capital of black Tulsans and to enhance the communication and connectedness in young, black Tulsan's social spaces. What separates BVT from other businesses is that BVT tailors its approach through curating events specifically for young, black Tulsans. This is accomplished through connecting and engaging with young creatives in the black community, while connecting and bridging gaps across various communities of color.

Meet our Founder
Jameelah is a native of south Los Angeles and a graduate of View Park Preps’ first graduating class. After high school, Jameelah was accepted to Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida, where she studied finance and accounting. Her professional background has been very diverse, from being a teller for Washington Mutual in high school, to working at the White House and Capitol Hill as an intern for a year, to working for Bank of America in multiple capacities for 5 years. After leaving Bank of America, Jameelah joined the world of education as an AmeriCorps VISTA and after her VISTA term ended she accepted a position as the Higher Education Scholarship Manager at A Place Called Home. She recently graduated from La Sierra University with an MBA in Management and a MAT (master of arts in teaching).
After graduation, Jameelah joined The Opportunity Project Team through her fellowship with Education Pioneers. As a fellow Jameelah worked on creating and developing The Opps’ summer pilot program. She also oversees two OST programs at Walt Whitman and Kendall-Whittier Elementary Schools, and serves as a coach for the OST site directors at three elementary schools (Whitman, Council Oak and Robertson). Throughout her past year of living in Tulsa, Jameelah has joined and is involved with many organizations such as TYPROS, OCCJ, Leadership Tulsa and The Greater Tulsa African American Affairs Commission. She loves Tulsa and especially the Chocolate Chip Cookie from Chimera! "Stay productive and stay positive" |
